1. General Terms

1.1 Introduction

Saltaire Art Gallery is a hybrid physical and online gallery based in Saltaire, West Yorkshire. We showcase and sell original artworks created by independent artists, and offer art lessons and workshops for the public. These Terms and Conditions outline the use of our website, the purchase of artworks and artist participation.

1.2 Website Ownership and Contact Information

Gallery Hours: Thursday to Sunday, 11 am–4 pm (unless otherwise stated on social media)

1.3 Agreement to Terms

By accessing our website, purchasing artwork, or submitting artwork for sale, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

1.4 Modifications to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time.
Changes will be posted on this page and are effective immediately upon publication.

1.5 Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the UK courts.

2. For Customers (Online & In-Store Buyers)

2.1 Purchasing Artworks

Artworks are available for purchase both online and in-store. We recommend visiting the gallery to view the work in person, especially if you're unsure about textures or colour accuracy.

Prices are set by the artists and include a 40% commission retained by Saltaire Art Gallery. Online purchases are non-negotiable. However, if you'd like to negotiate a price, please contact us and we will speak with the artist on your behalf.

Please note that colours and textures may vary from photographs due to lighting and screen differences. Artist bios and details are for reference and may be subject to change.

2.2 Payments

  • Accepted payment methods: debit/credit card (online or in-store). Cash is also accepted in-store

  • Gift cards are only redeemable for art lessons, not artworks.

  • A 20% non-refundable deposit is required to reserve any artwork online or in-store.

  • Full payment must be received before artwork is dispatched or released.

  • All payments are processed securely through our payment provider.

2.3 Shipping, Collection & Delivery

  • Shipping (UK & International): Rates calculated at checkout. Any customs or additional shipping fees are the responsibility of the customer.

  • In-Store Collection: If you purchase online but prefer to collect in person, please contact us in advance.

  • Collection Deadlines: Artwork must be collected within 3 months. After this period, a 5% storage fee per month (based on artwork value) may apply.

  • We are not liable for any damage or loss during transit. Customers must claim directly with the courier if an issue arises.

2.4 Returns & Refunds

  • Online purchases may be returned within 14 days in accordance with UK consumer law, provided the artwork is in its original condition.

  • In-store purchases are non-refundable unless approved by the gallery and the artist.

  • Non-refundable items: commissions, personalised/customised work, sale pieces.

  • All returned items must be in perfect, undamaged condition.

2.5 Privacy & Data

  • We collect personal data to process transactions and manage accounts.

  • Our website uses cookies to improve the user experience.

  • By signing up to our mailing list, you consent to receive updates and marketing offers. You can unsubscribe at any time.

3. For Artists (Sellers, Exhibitors, and Consignees)

3.1 Artist Agreements

  • We retain a 40% commission on all sold works.

  • Artists will be paid within 14 days of a sale; however, please allow up to 30 days.

  • The artwork remains the property of the artist until sold, but we reserve the right to use images for marketing purposes.

  • If an artist fails to collect or arrange pickup of unsold artwork within 3 months of a sent request, ownership will be transferred to Saltaire Art Gallery with no obligation to pay the artist upon resale.

3.2 Artwork Submission

  • All artworks must be professionally presented and framed (unless agreed otherwise).

  • Hanging hardware (D-rings or wire) must be securely attached.

  • Include with each piece: artist’s name, title, medium, price, and optionally, a bio. This info can be sent to admin@saltaire.art or physically attached to the artwork.

3.3 Sales Process

  • Saltaire Art Gallery acts as a sales agent on behalf of the artist.

  • We may reduce prices during sales or promotions with prior consent.

  • Artists will be notified of sales within 14 working days of the transaction.

3.4 Liability & Insurance

  • Artists are responsible for insuring their work unless otherwise agreed.

  • All artworks are left at the gallery at the artist’s own risk.

  • We are not liable for damage during delivery to/from the gallery. We may repackage artworks if their original wrapping is damaged.

3.5 Removal of Work

  • Artists must collect their work within 3 months of the pickup request date.

  • Late collection may result in storage fees or loss of ownership.

  • The artist is responsible for arranging transport; we are not liable for damage once the work leaves our premises.
