One of the greatest challenges of developing as an artist is finding honest, knowledgeable feedback. These sessions are for ambitious artists with big dreams who are ready to grow through thoughtful discussion with like-minded creatives.
Each session is limited to 7 participants.
Saltaire Art School, 13a Victoria Road
Join artist Jake Attree for an intimate three-hour drawing masterclass exploring the character of Saltaire through line, gesture, nature and landscape.
The morning will begin with Saltaire’s architecture as our subject, using the distinctive buildings and spaces of the village as a starting point for exploring observation, proportion and composition.
From there, Jake will encourage us to loosen our relationship with line, moving away from overly controlled drawing and towards more instinctive, gestural marks. We’ll explore how a drawing can have personality and character, and how a few expressive lines can communicate far more than a highly finished image.
The session will also turn to nature and landscape, looking at different ways of responding to organic forms, trees, foliage, the river and the surrounding landscape.
This is a workshop about looking, responding and finding freedom in drawing.
Join us for the next Art Club gathering, an informal evening of conversation, food and ideas inspired by Grayson Perry’s Playing to the Gallery.
Perry’s witty and provocative book explores the strange and fascinating world of contemporary art — who decides what is good, how value is created, the role of artists, galleries, critics and collectors, and what it really means to participate in the art world today.
You don’t need to be an artist or an art-world expert, and you certainly don’t need to have finished the book. The idea is simply to come together, share thoughts and perhaps challenge a few of our own assumptions about art along the way.
We’ll be making it a potluck dinner, so bring something to eat and come ready for a relaxed evening around the table.

We are delighted to announce the first of our intimate Art Salons, taking place on Thursday, 15th October, from 5:30–7 pm.
Limited to just ten guests, the evening will unfold as a candle-lit dinner exploring the idea of Undoing: the understated, often courageous process of shedding what is inherited, imposed or no longer true to our core, and returning to the person we were always meant to become.
