This advanced programme is designed for painters seeking to deepen both their technical command of acrylic painting and their understanding of professional practice within the contemporary art market.
Across 12 weeks of studio teaching, participants will engage with classical subjects: still life, portrait, and drapery, each explored over two consecutive three-hour sessions.
In addition, this mentorship programme offers a more expansive insight into the life and practice of a professional painter. Drawing on her background in branding and design, alongside her experience as both a gallerist and exhibiting artist, Nina Hunter will guide students in shaping a coherent artistic identity and positioning their work within the contemporary market.
The programme includes individual critique sessions and portfolio reviews, providing focused, practical guidance tailored to each participant’s direction and ambitions.

The Foundations of Acrylic Painting

An accomplished artist distinguished by her attention to detail, Caroline will guide students through the fundamental principles of composition and tonal mixing, establishing a rigorous foundation for subsequent colour exploration.
The course places particular emphasis on disciplined observation and a refined understanding of acrylic technique—an intentional return to core principles.
This programme is designed for ambitious and committed creatives of all ages seeking to cultivate both technical fluency and a more discerning visual language.
What You Will Learn:
Understanding art materials and their uses
Techniques for transferring images from printouts
Proper brush handling methods
Colour theory and mixing techniques
Fundamentals of composition
Key principles of abstract painting
Develop a keen eye for detail by observing and appreciating the subtle nuances that elevate a painting
What to Expect:
Paintings of Still Life, Landscapes, Portraits, and Abstract pieces inspired by the Great Masters
Personalised guidance and expert advice or simple feedback (as required)
A 3-hour evening in the company of art and gentle jazz music while sipping herbal tea;
Experience level: Absolute beginners welcome, as well as those looking to refine their portrait skills.
